DOAG 2011 Business Intelligence – New Opportunities for Oracle Users and Partners

Ettlingen, June 21, 2011 – With the DOAG 2011 BI, the DOAG Deutsche Oracle Anwendergruppe e.V. (German Oracle User Group) introduced for the first time an independent Oracle user conference focusing on "Data Warehouse" (DWH) and "Business Intelligence" (BI). The Munich Hotel City Hilton offered the perfect setting for exciting presentations, experience sharing and project reports topped with current information about the successful use of Oracle products. With about 150 participants, the conference had a successful start. Oracle Platinum Partner PROMATIS tested the new DOAG event format and sent a speaker there, whose presentation received positive feedback.
"Analysis of Business Process Simulation with the Oracle BI Suite" was the title of the presentation by Johannes Michler, PROMATIS Principal Consultant. His practical contribution illustrated how the simulation results of the new business process management tool Horus® can be evaluated with the Oracle BI Suite. "Tools that support simulation are now more important than ever, since real experiments are rarely feasible and also analytical methods meet their limits for complex processes. Horus in connection with the evaluation of results by the Oracle BI Suite is the ideal combination," says Michler.
The conference was very versatile and covered in three parallel streams all the important topics in the BI environment from "Data Warehouse and Extract, Transform and Load (ETL)" to "Business Intelligence & Analytics" and "Methodology and Management". In his provocative keynote titled "Sandboxing: When departments take over DHW", Marc Bastien from Oracle Germany, for example, explained why more and more departments say goodbye to DHW mentally. Users want a flexible environment in which they can integrate their own data sources and define their own data marts - with the help of Oracle technologies.
The successful event also invited for networking and exchange with other users and experts. PROMATIS will likely be represented next year as a sponsor and exhibitor at the DOAG 2012 BI and will introduce the new BI Appliance™.
